I woke up this morning and made a beeline for 1. a bagel with a shitload of cream cheese (as if there was any other way to eat a bagel) and 2. my heating pad. Apparently, yesterday’s “long run” really took it out of me. I’m feeling a rather high level of concern about this newfound IT band pain I’ve been experiencing for the past week. I can only assume it’s due to the fact that I’ve been running harder – during all my previous training cycles, including my last marathon training cycle, I never had so much as a hint of a twinge in that area of my body. Now I’m freaking out and glued to my foam roller/heating pad.
Today, blessedly, is a rest day. My new rest day resolution is to get my overly tight muscles to yoga class after work.
I watched the Oscars to completion last night, and am pleased that I got to see several appearances by the individual I think was most deserving of a nod this year – Uggie.

This guy…
Not that I’ve actually seen The Artist, but I don’t know many dudes who can rock a bow tie like that. Homeboy’s got mojo.
Thank God I have an office day today. I obviously did not get enough sleep last night.
i *have* seen “The Artist” (and, it was my favorite of all the films nominated, so I was very happy it swept) and I can say that Uggie DEFINITELY deserved to at least be nominated for best supporting actor…
I haven’t seen The Artist yet, but I’ve been wanting to! The only nominated movies I saw were The Descendants and Midnight in Paris – loved both of them!
A good friend of mine is a physical therapist and a super athlete (runner, triathlete, cyclist, etc.) I thought you might find this video helpful for your IT band issues!
Everyone keeps saying the Artist is amazing, but I’m still skeptical. Although I’d watch almost anything if it includes a cute dog.
